The Diary of Rev. Ebenezer Parkman

Day: July 23, 1757

July 23, 1757

1757 July 23 (Saturday).  It proves a very rainy Day.  Amon Blanc and Stephen Robishow, having lodged here last night, go off this morning.  Mr. Phinehas Gleason here.  I instruct him but cant consent to baptize his Child.

Why Don’t the Days Listed in the Diary Entries before Sept. 15, 1752 Correspond to the Days on the Calendar above?

In 1752, Great Britain and the American colonies switched from the Julian Calendar to the Gregorian Calendar, which we use today in a slightly updated form.
