1780 September 17 (Sunday). Read Ps. 23 and 24, and on Consideration of my beginning a new year of my Life, I preached on Ps. 23.6, and p.m. on Isa. 55.12 and may the great End and Design hereof be answered. At eve read again in Mr. Flavell. Neither my Wife nor Daughter Cushing were well enough to go to Meeting, either part of the Day.
Psalm 23.6: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
Isaiah 55.12: “For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.”
