Day: July 4, 1775

July 4, 1775

1775 July 4 (Tuesday).  Those that tend upon John don’t need to Sit up through the Night, but lye by him, and rise two or three times in the night to hand him what he wants.  Lt. Baker kindly here.

Why Don’t the Days Listed in the Diary Entries before Sept. 15, 1752 Correspond to the Days on the Calendar above?

In 1752, Great Britain and the American colonies switched from the Julian Calendar to the Gregorian Calendar, which we use today in a slightly updated form.
