The Diary of Rev. Ebenezer Parkman

Day: April 8, 1758

April 8, 1758

1758 April 8 (Saturday).  Mr. Zebulun Rice comes early in the morning to inform me that Old Mrs. Gashitt is Dead and they desire me to go to her Funeral, and I accordingly went.  Mr. Gashitt burys his mother in his own Ground, about 1/2 a mile south East from his House.

Why Don’t the Days Listed in the Diary Entries before Sept. 15, 1752 Correspond to the Days on the Calendar above?

In 1752, Great Britain and the American colonies switched from the Julian Calendar to the Gregorian Calendar, which we use today in a slightly updated form.
