The Diary of Rev. Ebenezer Parkman

Day: July 29, 1780

July 29, 1780

1780 July 29 (Saturday).  Went in the Morning to see the sorrowful Desolations, and sympathise with the Sufferers.  May the Lord sanctifie the sad Loss to them!  Elias goes again to Squire Baker’s Pasture to look for the Lamb which he sought for before, but returns empty.

Why Don’t the Days Listed in the Diary Entries before Sept. 15, 1752 Correspond to the Days on the Calendar above?

In 1752, Great Britain and the American colonies switched from the Julian Calendar to the Gregorian Calendar, which we use today in a slightly updated form.
