The Diary of Rev. Ebenezer Parkman

Day: April 24, 1779

April 24, 1779

1779 April 24 (Saturday).  Mr. Grosvenor returns from Tewkesbury and dines here.  P.M. my son Samuel and his Wife came from Boston two days ago, and today here.  Sally is still but indisposed.  By reason of variety of company, was necessarily obliged to desist from what I was preparing for the Public tomorrow.

Why Don’t the Days Listed in the Diary Entries before Sept. 15, 1752 Correspond to the Days on the Calendar above?

In 1752, Great Britain and the American colonies switched from the Julian Calendar to the Gregorian Calendar, which we use today in a slightly updated form.
