The Diary of Rev. Ebenezer Parkman

Day: October 12, 1751

October 12, 1751

1751 October 12 (Saturday).  Exceeding Cold, yet no Wood.  Sent to Mr. Jonah Warrin, but none came.  Pick’d up pine and what I could find, for the Sabbath.  N.B. Packet from New Haven by President Burr,[1] but he was not here.

[1]Aaron Burr of the College of New Jersey.

Why Don’t the Days Listed in the Diary Entries before Sept. 15, 1752 Correspond to the Days on the Calendar above?

In 1752, Great Britain and the American colonies switched from the Julian Calendar to the Gregorian Calendar, which we use today in a slightly updated form.
