October 7, 1740

1740 October 7 (Tuesday).  Baines and Marritt again at the well.  Paul Fay Sent by Cornet Howard to help me.  He carted Stones for the well with Deacon Tomlins[1] Oxen and Neighbor Hows Cart.  Cold winds, but bright Sun.

In 1752, Great Britain and the American colonies switched from the Julian Calendar to the Gregorian Calendar, which we use today in a slightly updated form.
