The Diary of Rev. Ebenezer Parkman

Day: December 27, 1739

December 27, 1739

1739 December 27 (Thursday).  The cold I complain’d of Yesterday, increases upon me — some pains in my Limbs, but chiefly an hoarseness of Voice.  Justice Lee[1] of Worcester here all Evening.  Somewhat Cold.

[1]Henry Lee, a justice of the peace.

Why Don’t the Days Listed in the Diary Entries before Sept. 15, 1752 Correspond to the Days on the Calendar above?

In 1752, Great Britain and the American colonies switched from the Julian Calendar to the Gregorian Calendar, which we use today in a slightly updated form.
