1750 May 7 (Monday). My wife rode with me to see Adonijah Rice, sick of a Fever; and thence to Marlborough. Deacon Tainter making me a black Cloth Jacket out of an old Broadcloth Coat. We din’d Dr. Gotts. N.B. the Doctor gives me his Hand in token of reconcilement. Design’d a Visit to Mr. Smith but he was gone to Cape Ann. N.B. Mr. Hezekiah Bush who suddenly drop’d down dead last — Saturday a.m. bury’d to Day. A very awful and awakening Dispensation when a man is taken away So very Suddenly! The Lord quickens us all hereby! that we may be in an immediate Readiness. Visited Colonel Williams and return’d at Eve in safety. Thanks be to God!
